I can't even post one update of a free game to grab without another one to pop right up literally minutes later. Thanks to Herve Gengler on Google+ who posted this information. I'm beginning to wonder if life is just an elaborate computer simulation and we're beginning to break through the barrier, discover the code, and rewrite the rules of physics and nature to benefit ourselves through self-dealing. Is something happening and I'm just the last on to find out about it? Now you know why this website is named how it is...and speaking of being late you only have about 35 hours to grab this deal before a new one takes its place.
I'll be sending you over to the seminal Good Old Games (colloquially known as GOG), a company based in Warsaw, Poland and wholly owned by CD Projekt whose development arm, CD Projekt Red, is the creator of the smash hit The Witcher franchise (also based on a Polish fantasy book series!). How was that for a compound sentence! GOG.com was founded in 1994 as a platform to get old games running on modern hardware and OSes and to provide games free from any DRM (Digital Rights Management). I'm so proud of my people right now I could cry. Accolades aside, Oxenfree can be yours for the low, low price of zero dollars! GOG.com is currently holding their Winter Sale and it figures I found out too late while researching this current giveaway that Grim Fandango was free a few days back. Which is a bummer; even though I already the own it on PlayStation 4 (also provided free to PS+ subscribers), it was one of the last great point-and-click adventure games from the iconic LucasArts. Just goes to show that I should check every day from now on to spot these deals before the dissipate into the ether.
Oxenfree is a story-driven adventure game and the first game released by developer Night School Studio. The game was largely well received and has an average aggregate Metacritic score of 80/100. You'll assume the role of Alex as she and her friends and look forward to a party on the fictional Edward Island. Supernatural occurrences and general weird shit begins to happen and it's up to you to figure out what's going on and why. Destructoid game the game a 9/10, calling it "a hallmark of excellence. There may be flaws, but they are negligible and won't cause massive damage." GOG also has it's own digital distribution platform, called GOG Galaxy that's much akin to Steam; it's an easy way to keep track of your purchases, get news of sales and deals, and manage your digital library. I know, another client, but it's worth it if you regularly purchase from them. Be sure to check daily for new deals throughout GOG's Winter Sale, which ends in eight days. As always, happy (FREE FREE FREE!) gaming!
