If you're a gamer who's got a light wallet, like me, then you'll certainly be thrilled to know that Swedish Image & Form's popular multi-platform game SteamWorld Dig is free on EA's digital distribution platform Origin. This game is being released free of charge through Origin's "On The House" program. There's no catch, no weird ads to sit through; just log into your Origin account or sign up for a new one for free, mouse over the "Free Games" tab on the left hand side, and click "On The House" from the dropdown menu. From there just smash that orange "Get It Now" button and it will be added to your Library for you to play whenever you want! You literally own a free copy of the game. Nice, huh? Even though EA does some fucked up shit, and they're the games company we all love to hate, they do some genuinely decent stuff once in a while.
You'll also notice a nice addition to the "On The House" lineup in the form of FREE access to the STAR WARS Battlefront Season Pass. Every expansion to DICE's seminal game are yours at no charge: you'll get 4 new missions, new maps, new characters, and tons of other cool stuff all for the low price of $0.00 USD! What's even better is that you can grab this free season pass even if you don't own the base game. Your pass will be applied when you finally get around to buying the base game (or waiting and casting your bet on the base being released at some future point through "On The House").
"On The House" games come and go with little warning so be sure to check the tab every so often to see if a new batch of freebies have been added. As always, happy gaming!
